Clynelish 15yo Cadenhead Duthies

Classic Clynelish

Duthies is a Cadenhead range, featuring non-single cask whiskies with a precise age statement and of course non-chillfiltered. Was that really deserving of being a separate thing? Well ok, I’m not sure what the philosophy behind this range is. Just note: different name and look. Playing it safe here, Clynelish princes of the Northern Highlands, what could go wrong?.

ClyneslihDescription: distilled at Clynelish, matured for 15year in a sherry cask, bottled by indy bottler Cadenhead at 46% ABV for the Duthies series.

Nose: leather and mint, with notes of freshly cut grass, pine needles, raisins, a bit of cereal and a teaspoon of honey to sweeten it up.

Mouth: quite powerful for a 46%’er. That classic waxy Clynelish body, going in very smoothly. Orange liqueur with caramel and almonds, a drop of citrus, a dash of white pepper and notes of laurel leaves.

Finish: short to medium long, evaporating quickly with a quite a burn.

The Verdict: wow, unexpectedly it hits like a hammer. But so rich and smooth at the same time. Really indulging myself here..
