These are the short tasting notes from the Andy Ritchie Valinch 07, September 2014 at Bruichladdich Distillery.
Description:The Andy Ritchie Valinch 07 is a cask picked out by the (bottling hall manager?), who's going on retirement. A 24yo (1989/2014) cask, matured in a bourbon cask, finished in a rioja winecask at 51.4%ABV.
Nose:rich and smooth, fruity.
Mouth:hints of cherry, peat, red fruits and iodine.
The Verdict:A good and complex whisky, an interesting take on the classic Bruichladdich whisky, but not convincing enough to go through the trouble of buying a bottle.
< 75: undrinkable, avoid at all costs 75-79: acceptable, give it a try but don't spend to much money on it 80-84: average, enjoyable whiskies mostly easy sippable entry-level single malt 85-89: above average drams, often well aged expressions, open your wallet 90-94: excellence, sorry kids no x-mas presents this year, daddy needs this bottle 95-99: divinity, call your bank manager for another mortgage on your house
